Wild began the season as a starter, but moved to the bullpen as the season progressed. Wild concluded his junior season as the Tigers' closer and is expected to resume that role in 2007. Jake's best performance of the season came on Apr. 10 as he held the Stanford Cardinal scoreless for five innings in a spot start at Sunken Diamond. Despite Wild's effort, the Tigers dropped the contest, 2-1. Jake recorded his first save as a Tiger in the final game of the season, tossing a perfect ninth inning to preserve a 4-2 win over Cal State Northridge on May 28.<p><b>Junior College:</b><p> Wild joined the Tigers after spending the 2004 and 2005 seasons at Bakersfield College. As a Renegade, Wild led his team to a combined 49-29 record in two seasons. As a sophomore, Wild started 13 games for Bakersfield, finishing the season with an impressive 2.42 ERA in 89.1 innings. He allowed just 24 earned runs and surrendered 30 walks, while striking out 55. Following his sophomore season, Wild was named to the All-Western States Conference First Team. In his first season at Bakersfield, Wild had an immediate impact, recording six saves and earning Western States All-Conference Honorable Mention. Wild was a 17th round selection of the Chicago White Sox in the 2004 Major League Baseball Amateur draft.<p><b>High School:</b><p> Jake graduated from Immanuel High School in Reedley, Calif. in 2003. As an Eagle, Wild was a three-sport athlete in baseball, football and basketball.<p><b>Personal:</b><p> Jacob Wild is the son of Dan and Cindy Wild. He has four siblings, Jessica (25), Katie (19), Jordan (17) and Korrin (14). In his second year at Pacific, Jake is majoring in sport pedagogy. Following graduation, Wild plans to follow in his father's footsteps, becoming a teacher and coach.
